Every season is great for its own reasons, but my favorite has always been summer. All I want it to be is warm and beautiful. One if the best things about summer are dandelions.

Lotus

Lotus flowers have been influential in cultures across the world from ancient times until today, from ancient Egypt and India to all across Asia. They have been associated with the human soul, gods and goddesses and featured in stories and legends. The meaning of a lotus flower ranges from divine purity and enlightenment, as in Buddhism, wealth, as in Hinduism, to rebirth, as in the ancient Egyptian religion.

This elegant 19" necklace is designed with two colors of Freshwater Pearls, Gold-Plate Beads, and Gold-Plate Clasp. The pendant is handmade with large piece of Paua Shell from New Zeeland, Mother of Pearl and Seed Beads.

New Book

Mixed Media Jewelry Techniques by Lana May & Her Friends

Seed bead designer and teacher, Lana May has gathered together an intimate group of instructors ( and I’m proud and happy to be in this group), who conduct classes at the J.O.G.S. Gems in Tucson, Arizona every February. Our tightly knit group includes multi-award winning jewelry designers in a variety of mediums such as seed beads, wire, polymer clay, beads, metals, jumprings, glass lamp working and PMC, (Precious Metal Clay). While enjoying a dinner together in 2008, someone brought up the idea that we should collaborate to write a book that would combine our various mediums into unique designs. Such a book would be published to encourage studio jewelers to begin associating with peers of different jewelry making skills, combining design ideas, and creating exciting new pieces together. This book is a result of collaborative effort:

You can buy your own copy of a signed book at the 2010 Tucson J.O G.S show from January 30th through February 9th.

Come and meet our internationally acknowledged instructors and authors.

If you can’t visit this show, but you want to have the book with the authors’ autographs, please buy a Mixed Media Jewelry Techniques before 01.29.2010 from me. I will send the book after JOGS show, on 02.10.2010. Let me know at: beads@sparklingfantasy.com.

I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I have enjoyed creating it. This book was written for all of our students; those past, present and those we will meet. Enjoy what you do and share your passion!
